Sightseeing in Beijing

Whew!  We've been out and about in Beijing since 9:00am.  We saw Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City.  Then we had a great authentic Chinese meal for lunch.  Our guide, Yoshi, helped our group order, and then he left us for awhile and the language barrier became quite comical!  After lunch we went to the Pearl Market Museum, where I bought a teardrop pearl necklace and matching earrings (CHEAP). Then we went to the Temple of Heaven and an acrobat show.  We'll try to post some pictures later.

My favorite part of the day was at Temple of Heaven.  There were tons of people in the park doing leisurely things.  Some were dancing to loud music, some were singing or playing instruments, others were playing a hacky sack sort of game, and some were playing checkers or cards.  I could have stayed there all day and watched everyone.

Tomorrow we are going to the Great Wall and also the Bird's Nest & Watercube.  Then we fly to Nanjing in the evening!

  1. Wow! Sounds like your having an excellent adventure so far.
Does your guide Yoshi stay with you throughout your journey? Do any of the other families have children in the same orphanage?
    Have another great day,
